Program management

In today’s business world many organisations, both private and public, face ever increasing challenges to their business processes.
We are able to analyse clients’ asset requirements in relation to their business change needs, then define and implement a program of projects that is managed in a coordinated way to bring benefits otherwise lost when managing projects individually.
Our program management skills enable us to:

Interpret business and process change to a property strategy
Produce the property brief
Integrate multi-disciplinary teams either exclusively from Lend Lease Projects or in conjunction with external consultants
Ensure transparency in delivery so that clients are always aware of progress
Assist in realising the client’s business improvements expected from the investment
Focus on continuous improvement such that clients benefit from efficiencies obtained throughout the program
Be flexible to needs without losing focus on the overall goals
Leverage our relationships throughout the supply chain, thereby enabling us to deliver both complex and fast track multi-site programs
Project management

Lend Lease Projects’ approach to project management is to listen to our clients, to understand their project needs and to manage the delivery of the agreed solution within the parameters set using the optimum resource.
We will lead the client through the various stages of the project, developing a brief and gaining client approval as the design develops, together with the associated cost plan and programme.
We will recommend the appointment of the best consultants and develop the most appropriate procurement route for construction delivery. We will then manage the appointment of the contractor, seeing the project through to successful completion, handover and operation.
In all this, Lend Lease Projects recognises that, in order for all parties to work effectively and efficiently, they must work as a team and, to achieve this, we will:

Ensure clear vision and objectives are articulated and understood
Create the right project environment and culture of openness and trust
Understand the roles of each member of the team
Establish clear lines of communication and lines of authority
Development project management

Our development project managers focus on the retail and communities schemes where Lend Lease has an equity interest. Working within an integrated group of development, leasing, finance, asset and fund managers, the team possesses the skills and disciplines necessary to manage the projects through the acquisition, master plan and concept design stages on to completion and operation.
Lend Lease Projects is providing management support at Greenwich Peninsula, currently the largest community creation project in London. The regeneration of the 80-hectare site will provide a thriving riverside community where thousands of people will live, work and visit. We also get involved in new retail developments and enhancements of current assets on an ‘as required’ basis. Projects include Golden Square in Warrington, Park Place in Croydon and the Arndale in Eastbourne as well as works at Bluewater and Overgate.
In specific circumstances, we offer these skills to our external clients where we seek to develop long-term strategic partnerships.
Commercial management

Lend Lease Projects has set about creating a step change in the delivery of commercial, procurement and supply chain management. It has gone about re-evaluating the criteria and mechanisms for delivery, embracing the entire stream of business activity and seeking ways to integrate all tiers of the delivery chain, using the full range of expertise to afford maximum value for our clients.
In providing this service, we will determine the method and process by which commercial, procurement and supply chain management techniques forge new best practice, thereby exceeding the expectations of our clients.
Lend Lease Projects has successfully delivered strategic advice to major projects and programs of work in the following categories for a wide variety of public and private sector clients:

Design management

Lend Lease Projects has extensive experience in design management across a wide range of sectors and we have an established team of highly knowledgeable and suitably qualified design managers.
At the concept stage of a project we will help to identify our clients’ needs, develop the design brief, advise on the appointment of appropriate design consultants and coordinate any outline planning matters.
During the design phase we will manage the design consultants, monitoring the quality of information produced, compliance with the brief and adherence to the programme. We will also evaluate the proposed design options and advise on the most ‘buildable’ solution while interrogating the design using risk and value engineering techniques.
At procurement stage we will provide guidance on the selection of appropriate subcontractors and, through skilful negotiations, achieve best value. We will also evaluate the choice of materials, building systems and methods using whole life costing techniques to ensure appropriate longevity and low maintenance costs.
Throughout the construction phase we will monitor the quality of both consultant and subcontractor design information and performance while ensuring compliance with the brief, budget and programme.
Design safety

Lend Lease Projects is committed to identifying and mitigating Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) risk at all stages of a project through a range of services including:
CDM coordinator/planning supervisor - our aim is to improve the health and safety performance of all parties undertaking design work with the objective of positively contributing to the reduction of accidents on our projects.
Independent client advisor/CDM supply chain management - we advise clients prior to appointment of the designer and/or at pre-concept stages (RIBA stages A and B) to ensure that real value is achieved in the design for both construction and the future life cycle of a project.
Enhanced EHS coordinator - we take on a far more proactive role with total involvement throughout the procurement, survey, design and construction process, raising best practice and bringing value and benefit to the project.
We also provide:
Sustainability advice - we provide sustainable design advice ranging from sustainability appraisals of a whole development to the sustainable design of individual buildings and BREEAM assessments.
Environmental management - we have first hand experience in identifying, managing and reducing a wide range of environmental impacts and risks from resource management to waste minimisation.
